  • It sure is great to see all that RYOBI Green! You did a really top-notch job on this. Did you create your own design for this project?

    • I looked on the computer to get ideas about how to build a work bench, and kinda went with a combination of the stuff I found. Like most of my projects, (okay maybe all of them) I usually just wing 'em, lol, and as I go along I get more ideas and change the plans a few times

  • This turned out great! Another example of giving a purpose to available materials. Those tree-trunk legs are really neat too- we don't see many like those!

  • What a terrific idea! You really have an amazing talent for taking discarded materials and turning them into something totally new and useful. You did a great job on that finish, too. What a great job of distressing.

  • A beautiful turn out! The finish really turned out great- and it's neat that you mixed two stains to get this color. It's makes the piece truly one-of-a-kind. Great work achieving those tricky angled cuts!

  • To survive a 2 year old for hours... must be built like a rock.

  • What a treasure! (ha!) Really, this will be something your grandson will value for years. A beautifully crafted keepsake.

  • This is a copy-worthy idea! There has to be a ton of parents with just these same materials and no idea what to do with them. The finish you chose gives the desk and the chair a very high-quality look. Did you do the shelf on the wall as well?
By RYOBI Nation, on August 29, 2016
    • Thanks...no I didn't make the shelves, but I did try and match up the desk with them and the rest of the room...I originally was going to use old wooden baseball bats as the legs, but the bat I had turned out to be a valuable collectors item, a win win situation, lol.

  • Good thing you found out about their collector's status before you followed through! Baseball bat legs is a great idea though!

  • What a smart way to use older material! This turned out great. The finish looks really nice too. Is it a free standing piece, or is it anchored to the wall?
By RYOBI Nation, on August 29, 2016
    • Thanks...I found the wood ladder in the garage left from the previous owner (14 feet), so I still have 2/3 of it left for future projects...but it's free standing, I padded the top so it won't scratch the walls, and put a rubber type pad on the bottom so it won't slip.

  • You wife made a good choice! This turned out great- not surprising at all that you ended up with a bunch of requests for this piece. The finish looks really good too. Beautiful work!
