  • What a creative idea! The sign look perfect with the rustic animal frames below it too. Did you already have those pieces, or did you make those too?

    • I made the picture frames from scrap wood I had from other projects! I found the free prints on pinterest and printed them off on burlap! Love the farmhouse/rustic feel it gives my kitchen!

  • This looks awesome! Way to put your skills to work and save some money at the same time. The finish looks great. Your materials list stain and spray paint- did you use a combination of these two to get this finish?
By RYOBI Nation, on August 29, 2016
    • I did. After putting the pallets together, I sanded it down and stained it. I then applied vinyl stickers for the roman numerals and gave it a couple coats of white spray paint. My 2 year old loved helping me peel the stickers off. After that I just gave it a light sanding to give it a little distressed looked! This was my first time doing any type of not straight cuts, so not too bad!

  • Oh, now it's clear! You peeled the stickers off after the spray paint so the numbers show that rich brown underneath! Truly awesome work! Thanks for sharing this with us.

  • Awesome work here. It's great that you have the skills and material you needed to do the welding! That's a truly valuable skill!

  • This is simply beautiful! You did a great job filling up the space without making it look too big for the room. That can be a tricky line to walk when you're working with large spaces. The finishing technique you use is spot-on. What a great tip too. Anyone following this project can keep that tip in mind: chalk paint not only is incredibly stylish right now, but it's also very forgiving. Beautiful work!

  • And you got new tools out of the deal!

    • I was so happy with the current bathroom, wife wanted a new one. So anytime we went to get materials. There was no issues with me buying a new one of theses or those. I loved it

  • Wow! You really pulled out all the stops on this project! So glad to see such a great collection of RYOBI tools, too. Great work, here. Thanks for sharing it with us!

  • That's the best part of DIY. New tools and *still*less than paying someone to do it.

  • What an awesome way to add some interest an texture to your hallway space! Great use of scrap wood too- it's always great to see spare materials put to good use.

  • That is a hexagon (6 sides), not an octagon (8 sides). Still nice, though.

  • What a beautiful turnout! This is a nice fresh twist on the industrial cart coffee table trend. The wood looks so clean and bright! Thanks for sharing the measure twice/cut once tip! Very useful to anyone learning how to do wood working!

  • Beautiful! The varying colors of the wood give it a really cool rustic, modern element. Did you distress the sides of each plank before you put it all together?
