  • You're the master of camouflage, @SwampDonkey! We would have never guessed these were anything other than metal tool chests. Nice job!

  • Those are very cool! Did you find the design inspiration somewhere, or did you design them yourself? We love them!
By RYOBI Nation, on December 26, 2018
    • Like all good things, I relied on the smarts of builders before me and then modified it to fit my needs!  The original, from a beautiful mess, did not have routes edges, feet and was built purposefully to expose the raw hardwood plywood and screws. I think the routes edges add a really nice touch (literally and figuratively) and the feet were essential to make it steady on carpet!  We’ve decided on staining them the same color as the bar top we built behind them!

    • (Routed, not routes. Oh autocorrect)

  • That's a functional cleat wall, for sure! We feel so much more productive in an organized shop. You're on your way to having a Dream Workshop.
By RYOBI Nation, on December 26, 2018
    • Thanks.  Yeah, having an organized workshop makes everything so much easier.
      By grover959, on December 26, 2018

  • That looks great!
For your lumber storage, is that screwed directly to the studs?
I also like your wheeled scrap cart, I need to make one of those for my shop.
By TARZANTHEJEDI, on December 26, 2018
    • Thanks. Yeah, the top lumber rack is attached to the wall studs.  My walls are 9.5' tall and having it mounted above the cleats makes good use of wasted space.  The wood scraps / cutoffs bin works great, I've found that I'm more likely to use scrap lumber when it's so easy to find.

  • That's a great idea, and a perfect gift too! Nice work!
By RYOBI Nation, on December 26, 2018
    • Thanks.  Projects like this are fun because you can make several of them quickly using only a few tools.
      By grover959, on December 26, 2018

  • That's a great idea!
I like how versatile it is with its display options!
I wonder if you could also make a variant using whiteboards?
By TARZANTHEJEDI, on December 26, 2018
    • We were happy with the design in that it provides multiple uses from the same material.

Whiteboards / dry erase is a great idea, it would be an easy modification in that the same stand could be used.  Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely have to try it out.

    • Thanks.  This was a fun project and a good use of left over scraps.
      By grover959, on December 26, 2018

  • That looks great, she's gonna get a ton of use out of that!
