  • Wow! This looks fantastic and has such a warm and inviting look.  I'm currently planning a basement remodel and trying to come up with something similar where I still have access above the panels, without the look of a typical drop ceiling.   I've looked at a lot of examples and yours is by far the best.  I'm curious what you used for ceiling panels?  Congrats on a project well done.

    • Thanks grover959. What's nice about this, is the tiles can be lifted out of the way and have access into the ceiling. For the ceiling panels I had a bunch of these 4x8 sheets of a homasote type of board with a textured coating on one side. My dad had a bunch left from the 80's. I don't think they make it anymore. I had a leak and had to replace a couple and for those, I used white tile board (home depot model# HDDPTW48 internet # 205995949) it's ready to use and it looks really good. An idea that I really like is to use model# 538281 internet# 100080170 (home depot) which is a plybead panel I was thing of leaving it natural with poly on them or maybe a really light stain to get a nice contrast. Also, they sell plybead panel that is the white which i think would look good as well. Hope this helped you some and sorry for the long reply. If you have anymore questions just let me know.

    • Xray - Thanks for sharing these details, it is very helpful.  I'm still at the planning phase of my basement remodel but your project is a great motivation to get started.  Thanks again.
