Outdoor Table

Turn your space into the best Spring hang-out spot with this easy DIY outdoor table!

  • Step 1

    First, cut out all material using the Lumber & Sheet Cut Layout Guide. Then, plane all the rough boards to an even, thickness. Plane the 4"x 4" board to 3-1/2" x 3-1/2". Plane the 2"x 4" board to 1-1/2" x 3-1/2". Plane the 1"x 4" board to 3/4" x 3-1/2".

  • Step 2

    Drill (2) pocket holes on each end of the 75-1/2” center brace board and both 68-1/2” side brace boards. Only drill pocket holes on one side. Make sure the holes are 7/8” from each side as shown in the diagram.

  • Step 3

    Drill (4) countersink holes on each end of the 36" boards. Follow the measurements shown in the diagram in the Project Plan PDF.

  • Step 4

    Drill (2) countersink holes in the (2) 75-1/2" side apron boards. Follow the measurements shown in the diagram found in the Project Plan PDF.

  • Step 5

    Assemble a box by aligning the 36” boards and 75-1/2” boards. Glue and attach with 3” deck screws. Thread the deck screws through the (2) outside pocket holes in the 75-1/2” boards.

  • Step 6

    Find the center of the box created in Step 5. Align the 75-1/2” brace board so that it is equal distance (EQ) from each side. Glue and attach the board with 2-1/2” pocket hole screws.

  • Step 7

    Align the 4” x 4” legs into each corner. Glue and attach the legs with 3” deck screws.

  • Step 8

    Stand the table upright. Align a 31” tabletop board to the end of the table. Allow a 1” overhang on the side and allow equal space at each end. Glue and nail in place with 1-1/2” brad nails.

  • Step 9

    Repeat Step 8 at the opposite end of the table.

  • Step 10

    Align the 80-1/2” side rail boards on both sides. Align them evenly with the edge of the table. Glue and nail in place with 1-1/2” brad nails.

  • Step 11

    Start adding 31” boards to the inside of the tabletop frame. Glue and attach to the side and center boards with 1 1/2” brad nails.

  • Step 12

    Repeat Step 11 and add remaining center boards.

  • Step 13

    Plug countersink holes. Sand and stain to your desired finish.
