Rated 3 out of 5 by Remy from It was great, while it worked Within a year this great lil sander stopped working. This is not an isolated incident, many have commented that this happens. It seems the connection point to the battery isn't manufactured correctly and after enough uses it just doesn't connect properly to keep working. I started to see if there was a way to fix this issue but not easily for a <$50 tool. I used it to sand knotty pine wood in a 10x12 basement bedroom and by the next project (within 1 year of purchase) it was already having issues. And from what I can tell from Ryobi's website there isn't a repair available. Would be nice if they comp'd owners by sending them a new one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mat1 from compact and light weighn! I bought this about a month ago and used the first one for about two hours sanding drywall on a 9' ceiling. Well after a couple hours the orbital controller broke and the bed began free spinning. Home depot was more than happy to exchange the sander for me. I went home, put a sandwich bag in the dust bag Makes cleaning so much easier). and finished the 15'x19' room without further issue. The sander is lightweight and the power button does not get in the way. Hook and loop 5" sanding disc makes changing paper a breeze. Honestly Ryobi is for the home hobbyist and this sander is great for lightweight jobs. For the part time DIY'er thiss will do the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Santa from Perfect for attachment to a reach pole I already had a Ryobi model P400 hand sander that I purchased a long time ago (when Ryobi tools were Blue & Grey). I needed to sand the facia on my home but wanted to use the pole attachment (see pictures below) to do it and that attachment wouldn't fit the old sander. So because I really like Ryobi One+ tools, I invested in this new Random Orbit Sander. The pole attachment fit this sander perfectly and allowed me to use this new sander to work on the facia of my home from the ground rather than on a ladder. It has plenty of power without adding excessive weight and the dust bag attachment is a real plus. Now I was able to sand from the ground and it really gets the job done. Nearly all my power tools are Ryobi One+ and I really recommend them to both homeowners and professionals.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Denime from Good Cordless Power Tool...But.... Have owned many cordless hand tools in my time ...appreciated every one of them including this Ryobi Orbital Sander....but it’s heavy to the point of being awkward at times...Hand pressure combined with total concentration necessitate more breaks to relieve the pressure required to hold and position this tool...My former Orbital Sanders had handles which allowed two hands for manipulation...but this Ryobi Sander is configured for one hand grasping the top of the tool...no room for another helping hand...then add excessive weight for a small hand tool...now you have an awkward and high-centered Sander...If the housing could be made with lighter materials...and with an accommodating handle for balance...I’m in !

Rated 1 out of 5 by classicman from Unlike all my other Ryobi tools, this one is poor. I have purchased three of the P411 in the past month and returned all three due to them not functioning properly. They are advertised to have 10,000 orbits per minute, these three may have had 3-5 at the most, then would just vibrate. I tried using them with sandpaper on and they would just stop except for the vibrations. I based my evaluation on the performance of my 3 year old P411which still works great. I just wanted a 2nd one on hand when we are sanding a lot of wood. I checked yes as a recommendation based on my old sander and how well it still works.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jrodtoledo from Nice sander wont work with larger batteries I bought the on sale at Home Depot. Added it to my decent collection of other Ryobi tools. It works fine with the small 1.5 and 2 batteries however will not work with any of my larger batteries. Contacted Ryobi about the problem and even during the virus problem the only reaponse I received was to find a repair location and drive it to them, even though half the country is closed. So I'm stuck using swapping batteries out every 10 to 15 minutes. Tool works great. Side note larger batteries work fine in my wees trimmer and saw and impact.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BWhitley515 from Happy with my purchase I've been pretty happy with this sander so far. I purchased a Ridgid random orbital sander (corded) at the same time and have used them side by side. I've been happy with this one as a battery option. It does a good job removing stock without problems. The little dust collection bag does a pretty decent job as well, which was also nice. It isn't a replacement for the corded option, as it isn't variable speed, but definitely worth having around the shop for those places that you don't want to or can't deal with a cord.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Captain Ken from Lightweight and total sanding freedom I am building a 8 foot by 8 foot 19th Century Greek Revival Book Case. It entails a lot of ripping and sanding and finishing of Red Oak Veneer and solid Oak facing. My work bench will hold four 8foot by 11 inch Standards. So I am working over top of each other. The majority of the cutting is my Ryobi 18 volt circular saw cordless so as a early X-Mas gift I purchased this sander as I already had the battery. (Ps have numerous other Ryobi 18 and 40 volt tools). It has made the project much easier as I have sanded down to 320 then “Popped” the grain prior to sanding between coats of polyurethane. It has great dust pick-up to help keep the project cleaner. This has been a excellent purchase at a excellent price.
