Rated 4 out of 5 by Shadowbruf from Specific Tool - Small Jobs Bought this about a month ago, mainly for trimming small branches and using on small projects in my garage woodshop. Saves me the issue of firing up my 18" Stihl and stinking up the garage. Do not expect big tool performance. It is good for small jobs, branches 1-2 inch max and trimming 4" log blocks, prior to putting on a lathe. Battery drain is significant and you should have at least 1 charged spare. The manual chain tightening feature is a great convenience, but make sure you crank down on the locking mechanism. The locking mechanism tends to rub against tree branch while cutting and can loosen up, causing chain to come off bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from I had a garage full of gas power tools that I hadn't used in 10 years. After plenty of research I determined they simply were worth fixing when I compared the cost of repair to this awesome one+ lineup. I already had a 3ah battery from a circular saw so I bought the hedge trimmer with battery and charger and the string trimmer with battery and charger. I also now have the brush cutter, pruner and articulating hedge trimmer expand it attachments as well as the 410 cfm blower(tool only), 22" hedge trimmer and 2-gallon garden sprayer. These new battery operated tools are so much better than dealing with 2 cycle BS. Well done Ryobi!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Metalguru from Nice little saw! I got one of these for my birthday a couple of months ago. Really nice little saw. Light, easy to handle, cuts like buttah. 5Ah battery cut down 6 x 6-8" spruce, and bucked them all into firewood length pieces on one battery. Couple of small complaints - the chain tensioner lock knob is easy to bump so the chain tension lets off, and the oiler leaks a bit when sitting. Neither are really worth complaining about. Keep your eye on the tensioner, and store it on a piece of cardboard to soak up the oil. Really nice to carry on the quad for clearing deadfall. I'd buy another one in a hot second.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GeraldL from An Absolute Marvel The Poulan died. What to do. Already owned several 18V One+ tools. Ordered this chain saw and discovered FREEDOM! Perhaps a third of the weight, no more mixing and hauling gas. Read the directions, added the chain bar oil and off to work we went. For me this 12" bar was all I needed. It powered through downed cedar trees perhaps 12"+ in diameter. What you need to do is have on had a couple of the Ryobi larger capacity batteries. I ended up only using one with two trees downed, several lower branches trimmed on standing trees, and that one battery was still running. Now I am excited about the pole saw's arrival! Yes, excited about tools coming in so I can do chores that were being put off. Um, did I just say I could do chores that I had put off? No worries. My wife is not proofreading my review

Rated 5 out of 5 by Seadog196 from Awesome tool ! I have used many different gas powered chainsaws over the years. This 12 in electric is the best I have ever used. It is lightweight, easy-to-use and the automatic Oiler works very well. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to do pruning around the yard or light tree work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mark179 from Effective and efficient I had a tree with some stump rot threatening to fall on the car port -- probably 24" circumference, 14"-16" diameter. Instead of paying someone to do it, I got this chain saw. The various pruning and limb cuts went really smoothly and I trimmed away the parts that would be a liability before falling the whole tree. I probably would've done better with the next size up, but this chain saw did the job. One thing that takes a little getting used to with the electric saw is knowing the battery life. I thought I ran it down a couple of times, but really I just needed to reset the tension and clear out the inside. For those of you who may not know, you need to also get the oil. Not included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by j bar c from Really does the job I am an 84 year old man and have been using gas chain saws to cut firewood for over 50 years. I am now using an 18 volts Ryobi 12 inch brushless chain saw and have found it to be an excellent replacement for my gas saws. It is so much lighter and the starting and stopping so much easier. I typically start with two fully charged batteries and by the time I have used them enough to discharge the batteries, I am tired and have cut a sufficient amount of wood for the day. Most of my cutting is of tree limbs and logs of oak up to about 6 inches in diameter. An excellent say
