Disappointing
I bought the 18 volt trimmer a month ago.
Trimmer works great but string cartridge doesn't last very long and are expensive to replace. Don't know what's worse, winding a spool or the hassle and expense of purchasing replacement cartridges. No wondythe cart roars sold in multi packs!

Very expensive spools and bad product
I have 18V Ryobi trimmer. After two years, the battery only lasts 5 minutes and power is low. The three-spool replacement pack is $20, extremely expensive. Overall Ryobi battery trimmer seems to be too expensive for its service. I returned it.

Uses too much string
Bought the 18 V string trimmer last week. Loved the ease of use and weight but... This trimmer used more than $20 of string to edge our yard. We could hire a Gardner for the cost of the string. I plan to return the edger.

Would like a biodegradable version
Despite the cost and short lifespan of the product, it's easy to use. However, I want to switch to a biodegradable product that doesn't pollute my environment with tiny pieces of plastic. Let's see Ryobi once again be an innovator in the industry.

String poor quality
Just wanted to be added to list of disappointed in the replacement sting for cordless weed wacker. Bought 3 pack and it didn't come close to finishing my trimming around flower beds and trees. I have less than a 1/4 acre

Wrong Spool
I just bought 3 trimmer spools at Home Depot, got them home, and they are different from the one that came with my trimmer. The original spool that came with the trimmer feeds about 1/4 inch of line at a time. the ones from Depot feed about 1 inch at a time. SKU495928. I can't find any online either. It's impossible to buy the correct replacement spools.

String line wrapping up under spool
Had hi expectation, every thing work well, except the string line which only lasted me 2 different occasions, to trim around a 1500 sqft house, and my drive way. The string is not feeding properly.
My main problem is the string for reasons unknown to me, keep wrapping up, under the spool, and I have to stop and take the spool off to unwrap it.

Great Gift
My wife purchased this for me and it was a great gift. The spools are expensive but I just bought a roll of line and rewind the spool. I leave my finger depressed on the trigger when I am using the tool so it does not release more twine when I restart. The battery that came with the unit lasted only maybe 15 minutes. I purchased a 4ah battery and I am very pleased with the power.
