Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised This is the 5th attachment for my Ryobi trimmer that I bought several years ago. I've have a bunch of black berry bushes creeping in on my yard so I bought this to see if would help me at least chop them down. It worked great for this. I have also recently had a bunch of Buckeye trees chopped and the stumps are aggressively growing again. I used the Ryobi Brush Cutter to cut the new sprouts. I cut them with no problems and even cut some of the older stalks of about 1" (slowly). I didn't do this routinely but it worked well, especially for the new starts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from durable and getts the job done I bought the Ryobi brush cutter because i recieved a phone call from an older couple in my town asking if I can help with making a fire line around their house knowing what would be needed to cut down the amount of weeds they had around their house. when I started using the brush cutter i was skeptical but it did the work not only did it cut down everything they now have a safe fire line around their home. Thank you for making a great product. The only down side about this product is it does not have sharpened edges like a lawnmower blade does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Does a Great Job! I just bought this last week to go on my 40V Ryobi string trimmer. First day, I used for three hours cutting wild raspberry bushes, 12" tall weeds, and small trees about an 1" to maybe 2" in diameter - no sweat! It was far better than I ever expected. After three hours of use, I had only used only half of the battery. It lasted longer than I did! The Ryobi 40V tools are fantastic and I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! Have been using the 40V Expand-It string trimmer and have a wire fence line that the neighbor put up along the property line to keep the dog in the yard. It has gotten very over grown with small tree saplings, thorn bush, burdock, vine runners. A real tangled up mess that was crushing the fence and over growing the driveway. Today I purchased the tri blade attachment for it. Careful use of the brush cutter attachment this evening for an hour made short work of about 10 feet of the mess. It is able to cut through 1 inch tree stock, but you have to be real easy with it and let the RPM stay up in order to do that. And then let it cool down again. Still have a lot more to do along the property line, but a real saver in time compared to the old hand loppers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tears through the brush! I bought this to clear out a large area of thick prickly bush and it went through it like a hot knife goes through butter. It was easy to use and I love the handle and shoulder strap that came with it. I put those on and they help so much with holding the trimmer. Takes stress off the back and arms. They should have these items come with the trimmer itself. This was well worth the price and I would recommend to anyone who may have to do some brush trimming, even if only once in a while, it is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! I recently purchased the Ryobi 2 cylinder weed trimmer w/the brush trimmer attachment. I pulled both out of the boxes, read the instructions, fired it up and made quick work of the 1/4 acre of the weeds and grass that had grown over four feet. Ryobi, you have made a new friend and customer because of your product. Since I need several types of tools I can safely use, the Ryobi offers all the attachments I need to make this happen. I recommend this product to anyone with the same lawn and garden needs!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best battery powered alternative available A front lawn with sagebrush (Salvia) & several tall grasses (Aristida & Nasella) which have propagated over the entire yard, growing tall and thick. This tool trimmed it all down in well under a half hour. The shoulder harness is a necessity and works well. The only other battery-powered grass/brush cutter I could find that would officially take metal blades was the Husquvarna 536LiLx which was way above what was needed. This brush cutter is perfect for the home gardener and I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well with the string trimmer I bought this attachment a month ago after purchasing the string trimmer system. I discovered that the ditch I was clearing had small trees (about as big as your finger), cat tails, and thick plants to cut through. The string trimmer would do OK, but this attachment was the right tool for the job. The battery lasts long enough and has the power to clear 50 feet of ditch. The attachment slices through tough fibrous plants (cat tails) and very small trees. I am satisfied with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty effective I was staining a fence I had built the year prior but on the other side there was 6' of brush, weeds, vines, etc. that had grown in over the previous 12 months. I was going to rent a brush hog for a few hours but figured I'd give this attachment a try. Worked brilliantly. In a matter of about an hour I had cleared an 8' wide swath the entire 50' length of the fence right down to the ground. Definitely fills a niche in the tool shed...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I bought this to replace a 15 year old Brush Cutte The nut came off during use and I have no idea where the blade went. I bought a new blade and ordered the nut and washer from Ryobi web site, but it does not fit .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powers through brush Used with 40 volt Ryobi head. It works great and powers through 8 ft tall mustard and fennel as good as my Stihl gas setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really sped up the job! Purchased this for our vacation property... The back area had overgrown with small bushes, brush, and vines - mostly 1/2" and smaller, but pretty thick. I had purchased a similar product with four blades a couple of years ago for our primary residence and wasn't overly impressed with it. Not sure if it's the three blades with a little more space between each one, but this seemed to cut through the brush quickly and I was able to clear 250 sf - 300 sf in a few hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very capable in heavy over growth Bought the brush cutter along with a Ryobi string trimmer and am not unhappy. The string trimmer does good in regular grass and weeds and the brush cutter cuts through extremely dense vegetation without any problem. The cutter is very easy to maneuver and weight wise I haven't used the enclosed shoulder strap yet. Battery power is excellent having swapped the battery with the string trimmer and still was able to clean a 1/3 acre property on a single charge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tool, terrific value I have many Ryobi tools that I am happy with. None, however, more than this brush cutter. The kochia weeds exploded this year, leaving me facing 5ft tall weeds, densely packed, and covering nearly 1/2 an acre. The 40v Expandit string trimmer, while a great tool, was ineffective in the inch thick, woody stalks. This mowed them down quickly, with gas like power. Excellent battery life too, nearly 90 minutes use on a charge. Included in the package is a J handle, an improvement over the plastic handle supplied with the string trimmer, a harness connection, and a good harness. Essential compliment to my Expandit 40v string trimmer and my 40v Connexion trimmer/edger. I intend to add to my Expandit tools, based on the performance of this brush cutter. Next I want the hedge trimmer attachment for my willow trees and dogwoods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than I expected I was skeptical at first. A battery-powered brush cutter? Have you seen my yard? I own an acre of land but only used the front half, the back having grown over in the last decade. When I finally had 39 Sweet Gum trees removed I was left with saplings up to 3 or 5 inches thick and a dozen nice trees that would now be free to grow taller. After investing in the 40v Ryobi system (the 20" mower) I started looking at the power head attachments. I bought the String Trimmer with the power-head and the brush cutter attachment. After using the brush cutter to take down the smaller undergrowth I must say I'm impressed. It handled everything up to an inch or two, but you have to let the cutter do the work. You can't use it like a chain saw, just let it gnaw away and it'll do the job easily. Smaller things like bushy undergrowth and tall weeds/vines are a breeze. The triangular blade is heavy-duty and you can get a fine edge on it when it wears down. When I finished I only had to take a dozen or so scrapes with a file and it had a nice edge again. Pay attention to the bevel angle when sharpening and the blade will last a good long while. I no longer use gas-powered yard tools. The Ryobi 40v system has everything I need with no trips to the gas station or having to cold-crank engines by hand with all the power of those gas systems. Plus no oil to mess with on 2-cycle motors. Win/Win.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cutting through serious brush Purchased this 1 day ago and have spent just a few hours after work so far slaughtering the underbrush - vines, saplings, weeds, you name it. Up, down, left and right this attachment has steadily shredded through some heavy stuff. I have a lot more to go but am confident I'll knock it out without any problems. *I've tried to upload a few pictures but they won't process but I am documenting the project on the Ryobi website.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent equipment I am very pleased with my purchase of the brush cutter by Ryobi. This cuts through the tallest grasses and all the saplings trying to grow into the yard area. We had one section that hadn't been cut for almost two years and this brush cutter did the work. So happy with my purchase and highly recommend it to anyone. The battery lasts for a much longer time than expected and the shoulder strap makes it so easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The right tool for the job! We have a hillside of brush. Too big of a job for our normal weed eater. The brush cutter works like a charm cutting down all the scrub and brush and mini trees. The cordless feature is awesome and the battery last a good 45-50 minutes with no lapse in power. I have a second battery that I keep charged so after a quick water break, I swap the batteries and head on back out. This tool makes my job easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's tough I bought this to attach to my Ryobi 40v trimmer to replace a pole saw attachment I had stolen. It's main purpose is to control raspberry bushes that border my property and one shrub in front of the house. This tool goes through 1 inch branches faster and easier than the pole saw, without the oil and chain hassle and mess. I have had the edger attachment and battery over a year with no problems

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is a beast The brush cutter attacment is the best thing ive purchased in a long time. Where I live the city no longer takes care of the ally so I have to do it myself. The weeds always get really high and thick fast. What normally takes me 2 hours weedeating took 15 min with the brush cutter attachment on the ryobi 40v. This is a exalent product. I've found myself trying to find more yards to use this on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brush cutter works great I bought this brush cutter because I volunteer to maintain hiking trails in a state park in Florida. Here, the weeds grow, well, like weeds. They get thick fast. The brush cutter does a great job in clearing them without the noise and fumes of a gasoline powered cutter. Yes, there were battery and charger issues at first. Ryobi quickly replaced the problem units with improved models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nailed Buckthorn If you are looking for something to tackle buckthorn, this will definitely do the trick. I had an area 25' 15' of dense buckthorn from a twig to an inch in diameter and it went through it all. took a bit on the thicker ones but it did it's job and is till going strong. Don't worry that the blade is not sharp, blunt force is all you need. I had this attached to the 2-cylcle power head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice! I bought this just about a month ago and it has served its purpose many times over. I wasn't sure how well it would do but I just bought five acres of very wooded area and it breezes through every tough job I can give it. In fact, I loved this device so much I went right out and bought the chainsaw attachment to it too. Could not give any more positive reviews about this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cuts like a razor blade Excellent Expand-It accessory. I constantly switch between the string trimmer attachment and this one. The solid blade cuts like a razor, which means the job goes fast and the battery goes far. The blade is a solid chunk of steel that's easy to sharpen with an angle grinder, and a replacement is reasonably priced too, for how massive and sturdy it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It did the job I needed it to do. Last fall I had I had to cut a new driveway back to my travel trailer when the poplar trees started growing up. I hurt my shoulder using a manual sickle and ended up in physical therapy. I had a bunch more to cut and bought this along with the string trimmer. It did the job quite easily. If I had bought it before I never would have gotten hurt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very sturdy, well designed I like the fact that this device has a metal shield that is very strong. The blade is easy to remove to remove weeds etc., that get wrapped around the shaft in tall brush. It's light weight very easy to attach & remove. Easy to clean, easy to use! It might be more effective if there were teeth or serrations on the edges of the blade

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice cutter attachment. I've had the brush cutter attachment for over a year now and it still does a great job. I have a lot of land and I use it to clear out the young brush that grows up each year. Nice for making paths. It won't cut very thick trunks but for the thinner stuff it works great. The blade can be reversed for longer wear. Nice tool overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed I have some think brush on a hill behind my house that blocks my view of a wooded area. So I bought this attachment hoping it would do the trick. It was easy to install and use and cleared a quarter acre in half an hour. I then did some more clearing of some trails. I'll probably use it more than the string trimmer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brush Cutter I live rural and have plenty of brush to cut around the property. I have used the cutter with my 4 cycle head for about a month. it will cut small trees (1" and under) with no effort. the only complaint that I have is the handle supplied no matter how much I tighten it will rotate after 30 min of use.
