  • So creative! Did she give you the design idea or did you come up with that on your own?
By RYOBI Nation, on September 12, 2017
    • She told me the color and wording she wanted on the box. I designed it off of some others I saw on YouTube.

  • Excellent work! What paint and process did you use? I always end up with stickiness when I paint surfaces like this.
By mjjones, on October 7, 2017
    • Thanks. I applied Zinsser 123 stain block / primer to the MDF with a foam roller and once dry, lightly sanded before painting. I then used a general purpose paint (Rustloeum Painters Touch) in gloss. For small projects I've had good success applying paint on MDF projects with a foam roller. For big projects I use an HLVP sprayer, it cuts my painting time in half and provides a crystal clear finish without brush or roller marks. With my particular HVLP sprayer I have to slightly thin latex paint but many of the newer sprayers can spray without thinning. For projects that have a lot of hand contact, I apply a couple thin coats of clear coat (Polycrylic) for additional protection. I really like using an HVLP sprayer to apply Polycrylic because it's super easy to spray and cleanup. I've used the same technique when applying a protective clear coat to kitchen cabinets after painting them and they're held up really well. Good luck on your projects.

  • How very thoughtful of you! That desk will be so helpful for your boyfriend! How did you come up with the design for the base? Looks great!

    • Thanks! The plans for this project (including the base design) came from Rogue Engineer! I loved how elegant it looked!

    • The best question I heard was "why do they call it a square if it's a triangle?". Love working on projects with my boys!

  • What a fun project! We like that you built it so that the balls would come out of different areas depending on the hole the ball went into!

    • Thanks! How else would the boys know who "won"...haha
