  • Mission accomplished! These gates are not only serving their purpose, but they look great. The variety of wood colors adds lot of character to this outdoor space- almost makes you want to thank the person who took the originals!

  • This is a fantastic idea for storage and seating. Anyone with kids would love to have this stylish piece of furniture- and what a great way to use materials that were bound for the trash. It's always great to see projects that give good material a 2nd chance.

  • This turned out great. The detail of the headboard is very impressive! Was it just a matter of nailing the shims to the board to get this basket-weave look?
By RYOBI Nation, on August 21, 2016
    • Thank you. It took a little trial and error to fit the shims i started by gluing and using my Airstrike brad nailer but found it would split a lot of the shims that were a little thinner so I ended up using a construction adhesive to secure the shims to the wood backing.

  • Awesome tip for anyone thinking of tackling something similar. Thanks so much for sharing- great build!

  • Thanks so much for sharing. This came out really nice. I am a graphic designer but who's very interested in woodwork. I've been seeing some amazing stuff here. I want to give this bed a try as my first woodwork project. Looks really good.

  • Beautiful! Can't imagine the one you saw in the store could have been any better than this. The marble top finishes the look perfectly- what a great idea to visit a local counter maker- very good tip for anyone interested in a small scale table top for a good price!
By RYOBI Nation, on August 21, 2016

  • Yeah any stone counter top manufacture will most likely have remnants that can be bought for a very reduced price.

  • Wow! It's amazing that you were able to salvage so much wood from the pallet! An Adirondack chair was a great choice to use up as many long lengths of wood as possible. Excellent work- it turned out great!

  • This looks awesome! Thanks for sharing the process pictures, too. How cool to watch it's transformation from a basic frame to the final result. Great choice of stain, too. It's always great to see pallet projects that highlight the character of the wood. Did you have to do a lot to the wood to get it manageable?
By RYOBI Nation, on August 21, 2016

  • Thank you! Actually yes i did have to do a lot. It was all rough cut with a lot of nails throughout it. So making the wood usable, took the most time. I also ended up making her a matching oversized bookshelf to compliment the TV stand.

  • All the hard work definitely paid off. Great build!
