I wanted a cost effective alternative to our early 90's laminate, but did not want stone. The wood warms up our space and brings out the white in our cabinets. Completely what we were looking for. We used wood slabs and added a butcher block like trim to the edges. Stained with Provincial and polyurethaned. Totally holds up to our family of 5 so far, a cup with water underneath it was left overnight and wiped up like a dream- no ring, no worries!
