Simple construction with this one. I cut two 4" wide black walnut boards 17.5" long. Then three maple strips 1" wide the same length along with a few strips of bloodwood 1/8" wide the same length. All were cut from 3/4" stock. I glued them up over night planed them smooth and squared the edges and then rounded the edge over. A few coats of butcher block oil from Watco and bobs your uncle.

    • Thanks! My wife has been bragging about it at work all week. It was kind of a rush job seeing as I've got behind on her buffet I've been working on. Just waiting on some parts for my ryobi bandsaw so I can get back to work on it.

  • Nicely done, looks great.  Thanks for outlining the steps you took, I'd love to make a few of these for friends using cutoff scraps.

    • Your friends will love them. One thing I would recommend doing that I didn't do, is to use a router and make a juice grove about an inch from the edges. That way the juice from tomatoes and such don't run off onto the counters.
