Whole Heart of the Kitchen Table

My wife had been shopping for a kitchen table and could not find one she loved or one she loved the price of. I did some online looking and kept coming across plans to build one. I was inspired to reengage with my Instagram account and started following shanty-2-chic. I whipped up a quick blanket ladder and the next day we went to Home Depot and picked up the wood for this project. The next day after that we picked up a few new Ryobi tools to assist. So a table saw, miter saw, nail gun, and a few other tools later we were well underway. I was building in my spare time in between my shifts at the firehouse and asking lots of questions along the way. The Oswego Home Depot was very helpful when picking up a new Ryobi belt sander as well. Next came the staining and painting. My wife and I must have watched the shanty videos over 100 times. I learned how to get rid of crumb catchers and how to use gel stain. I still can’t believe I’m sitting at the table now in the kitchen. Sometimes my projects are not perfect and I’m sure this one could be better but it’s in the kitchen and we are very proud of what we did together. Thanks for all the help along the way to all of the Instagramers, Ryobi, Home Depot, and Shanty 2 Chic. I put my whole heart into this project and its now the heart of our kitchen!

  • Wow! You did an amazing job on this table. Ashley, Whitney and all of us at RYOBI power tools are so happy you were inspired to build your own table. We especially love those trimmed up legs on this design. Can't wait to see what you build next!

    • Thank you it was a fun project. We’re excited to have this in our kitchen and looking forward to many memories to be made around it. I could not have done it without Shanty2Chic and my Ryobi tools!!!!
