Wall-mounted narrow bookcase

My daughter loves going to the bookstore. She has more books now than place to keep them, so I decided to build a new bookcase for her.

When we go to the bookstore, I noticed she spends some time looking at the artwork on the covers, so I tried to recreate that bookstore experience by making this narrow bookcase to display their covers.

Being a narrow bookcase, it decided to mount it on the wall for stability and also I added a short lip on the edge so books don’t slide off the shelf.

This is the first piece of furniture that I built. I used solid wood for all parts, cut them to length on my Ryobi miter saw, sand them with my Ryobi orbital sander and joint them using pocket screws and my Ryobi drill. Finally I gave 3 coats of white semi-gloss latex paint.
