Triple Pedestal Two Tone Dining Table

  • May 27, 2018

This is a custom table and bench I recently built. It's the biggest table I've ever made, measuring 4 feet wide by 11 feet long! I made it for some grandparents that wanted a table to sit their entire 14 person family during holidays. It's based it on the Tripe Pedestal Farmhouse Dining Table on Shanty 2 Chic.

The table and bench bases and top borders are made out of pine, and the middle is made out of stained cherry. The table border measures 2 inches thick, and the bench top is 1.5 inches thick. The table and bench are finished with 3 coats of oil based polyurethane.

I used biscuits, wood glue, Kreg screws, and counter-bored screws to build this table and bench. Where I used Kreg and counter-bored screws, I used wood plugs to hide the holes. No fasteners are visible on the final table and bench, which makes the construction look really clean. I also used a 1/8" radius router bit on all edges, both for child safety and for durability.

The people I made this table and bench for couldn't be happier, and said that there was even room for a few more people!
