I love natural things and this project was perfect. I took a section of a tree and had to size it down. It was initially 1.5" on one end and 4.5" on the other without uniform transitions. I have only basic tools so the hardest challenge i had was using a bow saw to cut the 30" circle to uniform thickness by hand. That alone accounted for half of the work put into it. Following that I inset the table leg mounts to create a uniform level surface for precise mounting. The legs are laminated pieces of poplar and red oak ground down using a router for a rough and natural look. The legs are attached with 2" hangar bolts and have threaded insert feet for adjustable height if necessary. The entire project is coated with a thick coat of high durability gloss for protection against ware and tare.
