I was inspired by guys workshop on YouTube when he made a table with a butter fly leaf, and my wife and I being old those leafs are heavy, so I decided to make a table like his. The hard challenge was trying to make the curved bars on the bottom of the table they had to be cut 3/16" so I could shape them and I cut them on my Ryobi band saw. Because of the size of the project I began to think that my little basement shop and the tools would not handle the job , but they did. My family and friends seem to love it I know that my wife does thanks giving we had plenty of room at the table. I learned so much about what my shop is really capable of I always thought that the big tools are what you need but it more about how you use them

  • This is a very impressive design! It's very evident that a lot of skill and planning went into this project. You really nailed every aspect. What kind of wood did you use? The grain is beautiful!

  • That is a beautiful table, excellent work. Did you create your own plans for the table or did you find them somewhere else. I would love to see the plans for the butterfly and how you handled the slide.

  • Hi, the plans were my own, I work in my head but if you really want to see how to do the butter fly go to you tube and watch Guy's workshop, (the butter fly leaf table})and he builds it right in front of you he is fabulous
