I wanted to build a new dining room table for a couple of years. I loved the Pottery Barn Benchwright table. I also loved the look of Farmhouse tables. So decided to combine the two and making a table. A good friend of ours allowed us to use some logs and also had a saw to cut boards. We cut the boards and then had them kiln-dried. We were able to use a family member's wood shop to get the boards ready for the table top. We assembled the top and the extensions and all the working components for the extensions at the Woodshop. Then brought everything home and assembled and finished the table in our dining room. I am so thrilled with how the table turned out. One stumbling block we had was the boards used for the extensions had too much give in them so we had to replace them with much larger thicker boards in order for the extensions to remain straight. Everyone that has seen it has loved it and 2 people have said I should make them and sell them. The table has been a wonderful addition to our dining room!!
