I have only recently begun learning to work with wood. My previous experience was smashing my thumb while trying to put together a bird house when I was in boy scouts. We are on a budget and looking to garden in West Virginia so I decided to reuse pallets to build planters. I was fortunate to find two pallet frames made from 2x4's and a pallet with cherry slats for this strawberry planter. Large portions of the pallets were unusable so I decide to cut the blanks neede for the sides of my planter directly from the pallet and saved time from disassembling the entire pallet. I underestimated the strength of the heat treated cherry and needed to take a break to recharge my cordless drill. I am very pleased with the results of the design and have received numerous compliments from passersby.
