Steamer trunk

  • January 5, 2018

I am fascinated with old technology. In the last 3 yrs, i have bought 3 old steamer trunks. I am unsure why they ever went out of style, but you don’t see new ones around anymore. Being relatively new to woodworking, i wanted to see if i was smart enough to build one.

  • Way to go! What was the most challenging part of this project?

    • The most challenging part was probably creating the curve of the lid.... and the patience and waiting required. With my background in metal, the waiting and patience required for woodworking is difficult.

    • We'd say it was worth the wait!

  • Do you have plans you could share?

    • Sorry. I don’t. I did it all in my head, using an antique trunk i have as a guide.

  • Great job. I love the compartment on the lid. Where did you get the hardware?
