We found a an old shutter that used to be mounted inside a house at the kitchen window. Since we were only able to find one and not the pair we decided to re-purpose the shutters into a fun shelf.
Step 1: Prepare for a dust-storm of sanding and do the best you can.
Step 2: Wipe everything down for a clean surface.
Step 3: Stain with whatever color/stain you prefer and allow time to dry. Then wipe away excess stain.
Step 4: Once dry, apply sealant of your choice.
Step 5: Attach shelving boards with "L-Brackets".
Step 6: Hang wherever you'd like. :-)

  • What a creative way to use an old shutter! This is really a copy-worthy idea. Nice job!
