ReClaim Pallet King Size Bed with Matching Nightstands

  • February 13, 2016

We wanted to create a solid King Size bed that didn't really resemble anything we had seen. We also wanted to use pallets for most of the wood because of all the various colors. The largest challenge in building this bed was taking the pallets apart and cleaning them up. We started with a hammer and crowbar but then we found that the VARIABLE SPEED RECIPROCATING SAW from Ryobi with a good metal cutting blade made our life much easier. We stained the entire frame of the bed Ash from Varathane but left the pallets natural until my wife started playing with watered down white paint to give the pallets a white wash look. The response has been great and the piece sure is heavy but that was the goal so that it would last a very long time. I definitely love working with old wood but I believe it is time to invest in a great planner so that I can make sure all the reclaimed wood is the same size.
