Rebirth of the Stingray

Got this bike from some family and I was immediately inspired to do something different with it. All the parts were in decent shape and just needed some TLC. I disassembled everything down to the frame and rebuilt and restored it piece by piece. I think the project turned out pretty well and it's a blast to ride. I used my Ryobi 18v P720 workshop light for the pictures, love that tool!

  • Wow, I haven't seen one of these in ever!.. tons of memories, thx for the post... I used to have a Schwinn "Orange Krate" with the gear shift & Sting Ray Slik on the back...

  • I hear ya, I've got rid of stuff that I wish I had kept. This was my cousins bike and had been sitting for 20+yrs so it has so nostalgia as well.

  • How cool is this! Love that fire-truck red color. Is that a motor you added?

  • Thanks! Sure is, It's an 80cc 2-stroke that'll get it going 20-25mph. The color turned out better than I could have imagined. This is probably of of my favorite projects I've done and was very fun to see it come together.
