A friend of mine inherited an old piano that had been in the family a while. She wanted to use the wood to make a table and a coat rack. I used the lower panel of the piano to create the coat rack. I removed the center of the panel and replaced it with a mirror. Then we used knobs from their old house as the coat hangers. For the table I spent hours upon hours removing the multiple layers of paint. It took forever. After is was all removed I configured the pieces to make legs and used the portion just under the keys for the table top. I wanted to incorporate the piano pedals as well. So I created a third leg in the back from other pieces. I hooked up an electrical outlet to a switch linked with the pedals so whenever you press on them it turns on whatever is plugged into the outlet (in this case a lamp is controlled by the pedals). Last, we had a salvaged piece of glass that was cut to size to fit the top. All in all, it turned out really nice and my friend was really happy with it.
