In my neighborhood there were two homes that were vacant and completely dilapidated. I ended up purchasing these homes from the bank and remodeled them from top to bottom. Most of the work was done by my dad (who is retired warehouse worker) and myself. I wanted to purchase the homes because there are so many distressed properties in the area and I felt like I had to do something to keep the neighborhood from going downhill. During our renovations, it seemed that every time we opened a wall or began a project we were greeted by rotted wood, old wiring, lack of insulation, etc. Even though the projects took me almost two years to finish, but they have become the talk of the town.
