Portable Folding Desk

  • September 25, 2016

We needed a portable folding desk for our 7 year old who is always on the go and doesn't like to sit in chairs. After lots of hours researching this challenge online I came up with this project. Made with poplar from a local mill. Maximizing the leg height also made it difficult to fold the legs out. I ended up rounding out the legs with a jig saw to overcome this. I don't have a joiner so I ended up using a circular saw and a guide to make straight edges for glue ups. This was a fun project that will see lots of use.

  • This is a fantastic design! Seems just perfect for a kid on the go. You did a great job on the execution of this build.

  • Looks great. Way to use the tools you have to make it.
