Pirate Ship

  • October 3, 2018

This Pirate ship was built for a fund raiser for the Local Shrine Center. The ship is 21' long, 6-1/2' wide and at the rear 7' tall. The framework is out of 2x4 and 2x6 lumber cut out on a band saw. The skin is 1/8" Lauan which was ripped into 8" wide planks to allow for the curves. The bottom is flat so it would sit on the floor. It was used for several parties as a bar with two bartenders, and even served as a parade float for Shrine clowns. I built this in my garage with the help of two other guys. We collectively have about 160 hours including the staining and painting.
