Pallet Wood Chessboard Table

I had a customer send me a picture of a chessboard Table and asked me if I could build one for her. Without any plans or dimensions. And she also asked if I could add a drawer for the chess pieces. So I did some research and ordered the materials. I decided to use pallet wood for the top to give it a rustic look. I didn't want a handle on the drawer, because I wanted it to be hidden. So the face of the drawer matched the rest of the sides of the table. I used my vinyl plotter and made a stencil for the chessboard so I could stain the darker squares. This table was a first for me. The end result was awesome!

  • This looks fantastic! Your customer must have been really pleased with the final result. The drawer is great- you really would never know it was there. Did you leave the lighter parts of the board unstained, or is that a lighter stain?

    • I left the lighter parts unstained to keep the natural wood color and also used the unstained area for my lighter color of the chessboard squares.
