I needed to get my desk in order, but I didn't want to spend money. I made some paper trays with scrap pallet wood, a few brad nails and some glue. It's finished with Briwax. The pallet I used had 2.6 stretchers which I ripped to 1.5" x 1.5", turned them on end and glued them together into a bigger sheet. After the glued dried, I ripped the larger sheet to the size needed. I went with 12" long and 10"wide. I used a wider dimension so it could file a file folder. Once the larger sheet was ripped down, I cut cut one end to an angle. I don't remember what angle, it was whatever looked right. I used glue and brad nails to attach the sides. I did leave a little room at the base of the sides so they would sit on top of one another.
