This is is 99% pallet material. The 1% is the base which is 1/2" plywood I had laying around. The design had one factor in mind, my dog knocks his current dish all over the place spilling water and food. The idea for this was high enough for him (100lb dog), removable top to put something heavy inside so he can't knock stuff around anymore. Edges on the top were raised to catch food if he does knock it around. That's it, simple. The frame is pocket holes and the base for pallets (not the slats). The slats on the dish are pallet wood secured with brad nails. The trim is the same material as the frame just ripped thin. Top is pallet wood edge glued. Hole were cut with a jig saw (very sloppily but it will work)

  • Looks like this will solve the problems you were having with spilled dog food! This turned out great. Smart idea to incorporate a removable top, which could even serve as extra storage space for your dog's food or toys!
