My mate wanted a coffee table so I got few pallets and some2x2 box section. I sanded all the wood down and made the framework for the top. I then cut more wood to 7x1/12 . I cut some midfield to fit into the frame and then started to blur the cur pieces in a herring bone pattern..The legs I gut to fit round the corners then screwed them in place. When the top was dry I assembled everything to get her and sanded it all down I clear varnished it with three coats rubbing down between coats. I fing that a piece of cardboard flattens of the varnish to a lovely smooth finish. When my mate and his wife saw it they were close to tears,no one had ever done anything like that for them before they were delighted more so when I said it's a pressie.
