This bench is simple and very cost efficient to make. I made this from 2 scrap 4x4's and a spare paver cap.

  • I'm just starting out on my DIY journey and I really like this. Can you tell me how you connected the 4x4s that are stacked to create the sides?

    By Crazy4Cats, on February 9, 2018
    • I just used a 3/8 bit to create a counter bore for an exterior screw. I drilled into the base of the 4x4 about 2 inches with the 3/8" bit. Then I used a 3.5 inch screw to fasten the two layers. This allows the screw to enter the other 4x4 two inches. Work your way from the top down and your bottom screws will be hidden. Happy Building!

    • Thanks! I think it took more time staining and finishing then the actual build. Good luck!

  • Love the design feature at the end with the knob! Great attention to detail.

    • Thanks! I was happy with how it turned out. I think it may be too simplistic without it.

  • I'm a beginner and plans are very helpful. Maybe I don't know the website well enough yet to have found the plans and materials used. Please advise

    • Our sponsored projects with step-by-step or downloadable plans can be found under the "How-To" tab of the Nation site, so we would suggest looking here first if you are new to RYOBI Nation! The other builds under the projects tab can be uploaded by various Nation members, so they are varying in the amount of info they share. Hope that is helpful!
