Our big Kitchen Table

Once my family reached six people (my wife and I plus four kiddos), we needed a great indestructible table that fit our space and our family. After researching farm style tables, along with standard table builds, I designed this almost 7’x 3’ behemoth. I used 4x4 legs with over lapped joints for stability and 2”x6” skirting for extra durability. Every joint is secured with 1/2” x 4” lag bolts, locking washers and nuts. The top is made from eight 2”x6”’s. Ripped two of the 2x6 to shrink up the top surface a bit, 4’ across was just too big. I finished it with a wipe on ebony stain and hard coat floor finish. We have had it for about a year now and it’s holding up to our kiddos really well!

  • Looks like that is definitely the right table for the job!

    • It helps that the littlest of our children can’t reach across the table and mess with each other   Ha ha ha.  Additionally, when we have company everyone can still sit together!
