My family and I have lived in our current residence since 1991. The kids are grown and now the grandkids occupy our time and space. While we have done many improvements over the years including a major addition with landscaping, the old kitchen has only had minor cosmetic improvements. Until now.
The first idea we had was to remove a small closet to open up the living room to kitchen. We also added shelving in a wall to open up the front door entrance and add natural light. When the cabinets are installed, there will be a counter top area with seating area and a pendant light overhead.
The response has been amazing. The big question was: "why didn't we do that sooner"? Although we haven't felt the full effects of this transformation, it has been so far so good. The grandkids can now sit in this wide open space, eat there snacks and watch there favorite shows on TV.
