I wanted to make something for my parents' anniversary. Since it falls around Fathers' Day, I decided to make a nice oak box that would replace the wrapping paper for my dad's Fathers' Day gift. I had an old pallet laying around that was made from oak so I cut it apart and cut the pieces into panels, which I sent through the thickness planer to clean them up. I made panels from the resulting pieces and cut those to their final dimensions. The finish I used was Minwax Paste Finishing Wax. I put on two coats and buffed them out so the finish is smooth and silky.

    • They loved it! Dad also really liked the brand new Ryobi P1811 compact drill/driver kit! He's been needing a new drill for a while.

    • So glad to hear that! Also that's great that he was able to get his hands on that kit! Sounds like a good Fathers Day to us!
