This year was my seventh anniversary; the traditional gift is something made from copper. My wife loves wind chimes so this seemed like the perfect gift. To make the wooden parts, I marked the wood with a compass based on plans I found online (by Leland Hite), cut out rough circles, then used a disc sander to make them as close to perfect as I could. I cut the sail into a crescent and gave it a slight curve. All the wood parts are oak and finished with five coats of spar urethane. The copper tubing is just 1 inch nominal Type M copper pipe, cut to exact lengths based on an online calculator, then sanded using an orbital sander for that "swirled" look. My wife likes the oxidized patina of copper so I didn't apply any protective finish to the tubing. I drilled the holes and attached everything using 80 pound fishing line with copper crimps and copper wire.
