Some of my fondest childhood memories are of being in my Grandfather’s basement helping him build custom tables, chairs, and other pieces. He was always a do it yourselfer, a Craftsman, someone who could fix and build anything. Two of the pieces I admired the most were a set of chests he build for my mother and aunt. During the beginning of 2019, he was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. He slowed down a bit, and I inherited most of his tools as well as his knowledge of building. Recently I drove him over to my shop, to help me build a copy of the boxes he built years ago. What he didn’t know was I had plans to personalize it for him and my grandmother. Here is the final product. Engraving was completed using the plunge router, and all assembly was done using Ryobi tools. Thanks for looking.
