New Deck

My brother is getting ready to sell his house and his old deck was just plain falling apart! My brother just so happened to have a 5 gallon drum of outdoor stain and sealer that has been sitting in his garage for a couple years now, so just opted to go with cheaper/white wood route. Anyways we cut our own stringers and replaced the entire deck. His old one did not have a railing, but we decided to put one on. These angles were a bit tricky to figure out, but overall I think it turned out great! I did use my router table to add a little decorative finger area on the handrail. After we were all finished we pulled out our chairs and enjoyed a pint of some great beer for a job well done!

  • This is so impressive! What was your biggest struggle with this build?

    • Overall it was pretty simple. Getting the correct angles took a bit of double/triple checking. I think the most time consuming was the walk back and forth from the front yard to the back yard. I should have set up a work table right next to the deck lol
