Music Room

The deteriorated and aged third floor of our old victorian was once a finished space many years ago. My kids needed a music room so we decided to remove a wall between two bedrooms and create one large room. I was left with a support beam that I decided to turn into a large guitar neck that was built to scale. The wallpaper was stripped and the walls were repaired. I then painted a few murals and added new carpet. This turned into a great hangout for my two boys and their friends.

  • How did you decide which bands and artists you went with for the art?

  • At the time, my youngest was into the Doors and my oldest liked Led Zepplin. We all went to see Van Halen play on their last tour so the kids decided that I should paint the 1984 cover just to bring some 80's into the mix. I'm very lucky that they like classic rock. We had plans to add Jimmy Hendricks too but I just never got around to it.

  • That is fabulous. You are a cool family. All of my favorites represented in your music room. Thanks for sharing. I redecorated my office this past Christmas. Got framed album cover art for hotel CA. Breakfast in America. Axis Bold as Love. And a Beatles album collection. Going to work is a lot more fun now.
