I designed and built this workbench with the following inspiration:
1) I needed a place to store tools and miscellaneous items out in the garage. However there's only a tight space available once you park the car in our garage, so the workbench had to be small.
2) We had built nice, wooden boxes to serve as the base of floral centerpieces at our wedding. Now there were just lying around and I wanted to put them to good use. I designed the workbench to re-use the boxes as storage bins which serve to organize tools as well as offer portability. It’s nice to be able to take out a bin and carry it wherever needed.
3) The workbench itself had to be portable, so it’s riding on smooth rolling casters.
4) The vision is for the workbench to have a twin, so that you position the two workbenches parallel lengthwise and then put a wooden tabletop over the two workbenches to form a large working surface. Again, the componentized design is intentional to allow disassembly and compact storage in the garage.
