Ryobi 18-volt L-ion hand tools were used to frame the structure and attach the deck on this project. The purpose was to gain access to our goat farm on Mound Key in Estero Bay, Lee County, Florida. The impact drive was especially useful installing the deck screws. The 1x6 "Ipe" decking is spaced 1/2-inch apart and attached using stainless steel square-drive deck screws, predrilled and countersunk. The batteries were recharged using a portable generator since the site is off-grid.

The project was built by my two brothers and myself with the help of our sons. The permitting process was the most time consuming part of the project requiring Corp of Engineers, State and County permits due to environmental, archeological and historic concerns as Mound Key is a Calusa Indian shell midden and extended through mangroves.
