I loved my first Kitchen Island so much- but so did everyone else! I gave it to a friend, then built a new one for us, modifying the plans I'd used for the first one (from Ana White and Shanty 2 Chic). I kept the drawer on the front, and added a flip down door on the back with a bread drawer and trash can. My husband cut a hole in the top so I can slide all my chopping waste right in the trash. I love it so much! One of the best things about DIY is being able to customize plans to fit your needs. I used a premade butcher block top- only thing I'd have changed would be to have made my own, but I love it the way it is!!
