Rather than purchase a standard desk, building one for the new home would be much more meaningful. It started with gluing two standard 1x16x48" red oak pieces and ultimately another layer underneath to give the live edge depth. A hole was made on both sides for the leg to go through while the other wraps around the back side of the table. A router was used so the top of the legs sat flush with the top of the table. Once the design was final, it was sanded, stained 4 times and finished with 4 coats of polyurethane and finished with a layer of glass.
