Large cutting board and BBQ carving platter

A 14"x 30" cutting board made from dark and light walnut for carving and serving large BBQ brisket!

1) cut 3 dark walnut and 3 light walnut pieces to 2" w x 2"t x 6' long on the table saw
2) cut 1 each dark and light walnut to 1"w x 2"t x 6" long on the table saw
3) cut all pieces to 36" long
4) align pieces into desired glue up position
5) glue and firmly clamp all pieces - allow 8 hrs for glue to dry
6) remove clamps and scrape away excess glue
7) plane both sides until smooth and level
8) using the table saw - cut the long ends to final dimension of 30"
9) using the router and a 1/2" straight bit - set and cut out general shape for handles on the bottom of the board
10) using the 1/2" round-over bit and the router - round out all top corners and handle edges
11) sand the entire piece using 60, 100, and finally 220 grit paper
12) apply butcher block conditioner and oil to piece
13) enjoy!
