Kitchen remodel

  • March 30, 2012

I changed the cabinet configuration of the center island, increasing its footprint to accommodate a new range-top, and replaced the formica work surface with wood that I laminated together, finishing it with Tung Oil. I also reconfigured the wall counter top and cabinets, building a new section to house a new wall oven and drawers, moving the location of the dishwasher closer to the sink in the process. Then I replaces all the pressed wood and laminate drawer and cabinet facings with new ones that I made using pine shelving, laminating it together when necessary for larger openings. I also cut the path for the ducting for the hood and exhaust fan, though I had that unit installed professionally. My tools included a Ryobi biscuit joiner for the laminating process, a Ryobi drill press, Ryobi cordless circular saw and Ryobi cordless drill.
