Kitchen Pantry with Door Storage

Our home had a unused closet near the kitchen that we decided would be an ideal pantry space. We used painters tape to mock up shelf placement and built the frames using 2x2's.

We used ½” plywood for the top and ¼” plywood for the bottom. A piece of face trim hides the frame, and plywood edges, for a clean built-in look. Each finished shelf is just over 2 inches thick and because the back and side shelves are tied together, they provided the wrap around look we were going for. Total project cost was under $100.

The second phase of this project was adding a spice rack and misc. storage to the pantry door, inspired by the Shanty 2 Chic sisters. Moving these things to the door put them in short reach and freed up an entire shelf of the pantry.

    • Thanks. We added the door racks afterwards and they added a lot of extra storage. The Shanty 2 Chic girls have great plans that are real easy to customize.
