Kids Play Room

so I decided to build my 5-year-old a playroom, well it was the only way we could convert the room from a nursery into something else...

I wanted to build something that was safe and gave her and her friends a great place to hang out. The problem was, I work full time and don't have a lot of time myself especially with activities throughout the week we are running back and forth to. I started the project in April and worked any Saturday I possibly could and finally got it into play condition by Christmas holidays...
A few challenges came up along the way including finding out my compound mitre saw doesn't cut straight on 4x4 posts or how I suck at handrails. That is where I had my buddy the finish carpenter come in and do just the handrail for me. Everything else was trial and lots of errors but I think in the end it turned out pretty cool. My daughter and her friends love it and now i just need to further accessorise and modify a few things like signs for the stores and possibly another door in the back of the house to give it an ensuite...

next project is a bunk bed playhouse in her bedroom! wish me luck!

  • No words! This space is simply too awesome for words! You did an incredible job. Your daughter must be thrilled. Please be sure to upload pics of that bunk bed- if this project is any indicator, it's going to be great.

  • Great job on this. I love the design, it's super cool how you worked the roof line into the structure.
