Keep your kiddos cool and relaxed with this adorable Outdoor Kids Cabana! With drink holders and a cubby for snacks, toys, and treasures, your little ones will be ready for summer fun!


Steps

STEP 1 - BUILD THE DECK FRAME
Measure, mark, and cut 2x4 deck frame to length. Construct as shown, attaching with 2 ½ inch exterior wood screws. Be sure to pre-drill all pilot holes to reduce the risk of the wood splitting. Check for square and adjust as needed.

STEP 2 – ATTACH THE BACK LEGS AND FRONT FEET
Measure, mark, and cut 2x4 legs and feet to size. Taper the feet with a circular saw (see closeup) and attach to deck frame with 2 ½ inch exterior wood screws.

STEP 3 – ATTACH THE DECKING
Measure, mark, and cut decking to length. Attach to deck frame with 1 ¼ inch exterior wood screws. Space slats ¾ inches apart. *Tip: use a scrap 1x board as a spacer.

STEP 4 – BUILD THE BACK
Measure, mark, and cut 1x4 and 1x2 boards to length. Construct as shown, attaching with 1 ¼ inch exterior wood screws. Space back slats ¾ inches apart.

STEP 5 - ATTACH BACK
Place constructed back onto lounge chair and attach with 1 1/4 inch exterior wood screws.

STEP 6 – ATTACH DECKING AND DOWELS
Measure, mark, and cut 1x4 boards to length. Cut 1 ¼ inch diameter dowel to 1 ½ inches long. Attach to lounge chair as shown with 1 ¼ inch exterior wood screws, spacing slats ¾ inches apart.

STEP 7 – ATTACH MIDDLE LEGS
Measure, mark, and cut 2x4 middle legs to length. Attach to lounge chair with 2 ½ inch exterior wood screws.

STEP 8 – ATTACH TOP RAILS
Measure, mark, and cut 1x2 rails to length. Attach to legs with 1 ¼ inch exterior wood screws.

STEP 9 – ATTACH TOP RAILS
Measure, mark, and cut 1x2 rails to length. Attach to legs with 1 ¼ inch exterior wood screws.

STEP 10 – BUILD THE CONSOLE
Measure, mark, and cut 1x4 boards to length. Construct as shown with 1 ¼ inch brad nails and wood glue.

STEP 11 – ATTACH THE SIDES TO THE CONSOLE
Measure, mark, and cut ¼ inch plywood to size and attach to console with 1 ¼ inch brad nails and wood glue.

STEP 12 – ATTACH DRINK HOLDERS AND LID
Using a 2 ¾ inch hole saw, cut drink holder holes into the shorter 1x4 board as shown. Attach to console with 1 ¼ inch brad nails and wood glue. Drill a finger pull into the longer 1x4 board and attach to console with a small hinge.

STEP 13 – ATTACH CONSOLE TO LOUNGE CHAIR
Center the console onto the lounge chair and attach with 1 ¼ inch exterior wood screws.

Sand, stain and/or paint, and finish as desired. I purchased the seat cushions from IKEA and used 3 yards of outdoor fabric for the canopy.
