Julian's Bed

After seeing the price and quality of furniture in the market, I decided to build my son a bed myself. Couldn't be too hard right? :) I used solid red oak, chamfered and sanded the edges, and mortised in the brackets to hold the rails. Built 4 supports for the mattress, and I used pocket holes to put everything together. Then sanded everything a couple times before using a mixture of blue and black dye to get the color. Finished with a couple coats of satin polyurethane. Thanks!

    • Took a few tries to get the right blend, and a lot of test pieces, but it really shows the grain!

    • Just a sheet of plywood.  3/4 I think.
